Shocking: Joe Lieberman's Greatest Shame

Sorry for the hype tag, but this really is sickening stuff.

Many of you may have heard about the recent fundraiser for Lieberman hosted by Mel Sembler, the chairman of Scooter Libby's Defense Fund. However, Mr. Sembler has a much darker past which deserves to be brought to light until Joe Lieberman publically denounces this despicable man. FireDogLake's Lindsay Beyerstein reports:

Any principled Democrat would recoil from Sembler, but it gets worse. Sembler is also a self-styled drug treatment entrepreneur who founded Straight, Incorporated, a residential drug treatment program for teenagers.
Between 1976 and 1993, thousands of youth were routinely subjected to physical, emotional, and sexual abuse as part of Straight's "confrontational" approach to treatment. [...]

New York Antiwar March Photos

It was amazing guys. There were over 300,000 people there. Just incredibly cool. Al Sharpton and Cindy Sheehan were there, which I didn't know until after because it was so ENORMOUS. Rob Simmons and an Abramoff Diagram (w/ poll)

Connecticut Republican Congressman Rob Simmons has jumped on the Abramoff misinformation bandwagon according to the Groton times (via CT Blue:)

First he [Simmons] cites examples of Democratic corruption from years ago (all of which sound rather quaint today), and then he states, "[a]nd this is particularly true in the Abramoff case, where the Senate minority leader, Harry Reid, has accepted substantial contributions from Abramoff; where Carl Levin, the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee, who's been around for 30 plus years has accepted substantial contributions; the senator from New York, Hillary Clinton..."</td>

Now, I'm going to say this once. NOT A SINGLE DEMOCRAT TOOK MONEY FROM JACK ABRAMOFF. Jack Abramoff is a Republican. He gave money to Republicans. He cheated Native American groups. The cheated Native American groups themselves gave money to Democrats. However, suggesting that those donations are illegal or even in bad taste is ridiculous. Read more after the flip.

First Event with Ned Lamont (w/ pictures and transcript)

Hello all, ATalbot here from Bye Bye Rob and My Left Nutmeg. Last night, among the portraits of famous revolutionaries and free-thinkers in the Cafe La Paloma Sabanera in Hartford, Ned Lamont spoke to possible voters and contemplated the possibility of challenging Joe Lieberman for the Democratic Nomination for Senate. Those who attended ranged from happenstance passers-by to hardcore activists, to even a brief visit from Hartford mayor Eddie Perez.
